Picnic In A Restaurant At The Mall

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

Nowadays, I have happened to be seeing numerous restaurants offering eat-all-you-can packages or the buffet style of dining wherein you will only be paying for a fixed amount and you will be able to eat anything you want as long as you can easily take it in. There are also all those that provide clean-plate buffet style for a more affordable amount but in case you put more food on your plate than what you will be able to finish and you end up having leftovers, you will have to pay double the price of the promo price of the dining package.

The mentality of the people who go to buffet style dining is mostly to binge on the food on the table and some are just there merely for cheap dining purposes since they find it really worth it to pay a fixed price and eat all the food on the table without any limitations just as long as you are able to take all the food in. My friend and I have been frequenting restaurants that offer eat-all-you-can promos and this is probably the most anticipated event that we are getting ready for every Saturday until last week.

I truly did not have virtually any idea why there were so lots of people in our favorite restaurant that day that we spent just about 3 hours waiting in line for our turn to be seated due to the fact there were just so many people in the restaurant enjoy the food in the buffet table. It seemed that they didn’t have any plans of leaving the area until it was closing time so I guess it seemed to be pointless to wait for next table to turn into obtainable so my friend and I did not have any option but to leave and appear for a restaurant that will offer identical quality food that a large number of the restaurants around have to offer.

As we were walking around the mall, we noticed that there’s a new restaurant that had just opened recently and it seemed to be situated in the far side of the mall that there aren’t too much men and women. It absolutely was funny since it was a diverse model of restaurant since there usually are no tables and chairs around where you could sit comfortably like a normal restaurant would appear.

They only had a large grass area where large picnic cloths were set up to work as table. It was a brand new concept for dining inside the mall because they even had real bushes and plants inside the restaurant to make the place feel like the outdoors with dim lights and an outdoor feel because of the open ceiling. They had a promo for their soft opening just to drum up a trade and to entice new customers to try their food and ambience.

I love it simply because nobody has ever tried setting up a picnic site in the mall where you could really eat your lunch from their picnic baskets while you sit on your picnic cloth on the grass. It’s a restaurant that advances picnic concepts and I personally think this will likely without a doubt make it big in the dining industry particularly for the young generations plus the ones who just want to relive a wonderful picnic experience that they will be able to do over and over again anytime.

Convection Makes Baking Easier

Monday, April 19th, 2010

If I were to pick out the greatest way to bake my cookies and brownies, I would most likely select to have them baked using a convection oven as opposed to using the conventional type of gas oven. I’ve already been baking pastries for the past four years and all I could say is that I did pretty well having a gas oven, considering that it was just my first time to bake without virtually any formal classes or training on baking.

I learned everything from scratch over the internet and that’s something that I am extremely proud of. I have realized all the essential pointers in baking by simply experience and I must say that it absolutely was not an easy task to do. There happen to be no shortcuts with baking. You need to be patient with what you happen to be doing simply because a slight mistake will be able to obviously help to make an enormous change in the results that you are generally supposed to get.

It may be excellent but a large number of the time, the outcomes happen to be negative as you tend to overdo the elements or the operations when it comes to baking. It is no way close to cooking because you perfect the dish you are cooking by simply adding more materials to taste and it isn’t going to matter in case you add a tiny at least what is initially indicated in the recipe as long as it suits your taste.

According to my four years of baking experience, I must admit that there were loads of times that the whole batch on cookies I developed attended waste simply because I either melted the butter too much or I mixed the cookie batter a bunch of. There were also times when I assumed I’ve put enough materials in the batter but when I had finished baking them, I came to the realization that I had forgotten to add eggs or sugar in it and there’s practically nothing more I could do on the subject of it but to just throw the entire batch away.

Lately, I have not committed any mistakes in baking maybe because of my past experiences which I learned from. My friends are even asking me to bake cookies, brownies and cupcakes for our weekly picnic dates. The best part is that I wouldn’t have to worry about thinking of the place where to have our weekly picnics because I get to concentrate on baking the goods for the event and the rest of the gang gets to worry about that. A good convection oven will definitely save me more time and energy since I won’t have to flip the trays on both sides just to make sure that the pastries I am baking are equally cooked from both sides of the oven due to uneven heat distribution going on inside most gas ovens.

With an electric convection oven, I would just wait for the correct time to pursue my pastries out of the oven when my timer goes off and I probably would not have to worry of burning virtually any of it anymore. It is because of the supporters that are generally based in the oven to help to make sure which the heat is equally spread in the oven to cook your food perfectly.

Having Your Cupcakes And Eating Them, Too

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Baking is most likely one of the hardest things that I’ve tried to do. Unlike cooking, baking calls for more attention and you need to make sure that all the elements that you happen to be using tend to be measured exactly as stated on the recipe. In the event you do not follow the information as it’s in the recipe book, you are likely to end up with another product which is either not edible or a bit too different from the finished product that you are required to come up with. I have tried to alter and play around with several baking recipes and I may only tell you so much in relation to it.

Unlike the other well-known pastry chefs around who played with baking recipes and came up with new products that were widely accepted by the consumers, the products that I came up with as a result of playing around with the baking ingredients are not really that enticing enough to eat. Most of them came out flat, too hard or too soft to eat. I just can’t come up with a very good accidental recipe that tasted so much better than the original one.

I really do not know what happened with the last batch of cupcakes I manufactured. Well, the cupcake itself was very good and almost perfect. The part where I had problems with was with the frosting. I was considering a whole brand new way to prepare your cupcake frostings by whipping up some cream and some butter. I know it could’ve tasted dreadful if only I had enough courage to taste it due to the fact the thing is, I forgot to put sugar and that explains why it didn’t stand out that well. The butter and whipped cream mixture was not positive enough to form peaks and I doubt that kids would even love them since adults won’t even touch them.

I have learned my lesson and I’ve figured out to check with the web for the recipe and instructions on how to cook or prepare something if in case your mom or someone who knows how to help to make it is not really available to guide you. And that’s realistically how I came up with another perfect batch of cupcakes merely a few minutes ago. There happen to be forums that I saw which gives you detailed guidelines on how to whip cream properly and how to soften or melt butter to form that perfect frosting on leading to your cake or cupcakes.

The frosting that is being used for cupcakes is no different from the frosting being used to decorate cakes. I suggest you bake a cake when you’re having your friends to come over to your place just to impress them how good you are in baking a cake. Or if you want to take it with you for picnics, you don’t have to bake the whole cake just to do so. This is the part where cupcakes kick into the scene since they are just miniature versions of the actual cake itself.

In case you think you have mastered the art of making them, you could also make funds out of it by simply selling them to your friends for particular occasions. You never know should you possess a blooming profession ahead of you in baking unless you try so I say give it a superior shot and find if you have what it takes to turn into the next most helpful pastry chef.

So Your Buddies Say They Can’t Make It To The Picnic?

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

My friends and I go on a regular picnic at least once every week. It has already become a routine for us to meet up in a place and plan where to have our next picnic at. I must admit that sometimes, we run out of new ideas and suggestions on where and how to have our picnic because there are times when in our circle of 10 friends, only 4 or 5 would make it to the picnic due to their conflicting work schedule or they have plans with some other friends that has been planned ahead of time.

I truly am not sure this time if they are really just having conflict with their schedule of work or if they’re just undertaking up alibis to not head to our regular picnic. Well, if they were choosing not to go because they think it’s looking boring, I would certainly have to agree. The weekly picnic is starting to seem just as if it is just an obligation or a habit that we desire to do on a weekly basis. I must admit that there were times that I felt that way.

Right now, I am thinking of ways on how to our picnic less boring and more on something to look forward to. Maybe we also don’t have to do it on a weekly basis. Perhaps every other week will do just to avoid getting so much used to it that you’ve almost had enough of it. That way, we will be having more time to think about how to make the picnic become more special and make it a more anticipated event rather than just another weekly picnic schedule.

For the past 2 years, we’ve always had the conventional and traditional picnic where we bring in food and look for a nice spot or a nice venue to stay at. Not necessarily on the ground just like the old-fashioned picnic but somewhere quiet, peaceful and clean. Normally, that would be the park, a friend’s garden or out of town.

This time around, I am thinking of holding our picnic in a friend’s garden but with a little more twist than the usual. We will be setting up a nice, long table with fancy cloth on it, really colorful teapots, cups and saucers of various shapes and sizes, Japanese lanterns hanging above the table in a line, fancy pastries that would look too good to eat and everyone with their silliest hat on. We’re going to have a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party!

We’ve never done anything like this before so this will be a first. We can probably do a theme picnic at least once a month so that we can prepare for it properly. We could even invite more friends to come over to our tea party to make it extra special and extraordinary. Of course, the picnic will be a potluck so each one should bring their share of food and stuff. I’ve heard of theme wedding and theme birthday parties so why not start a theme picnic?

Picnic Musts and Most Nots

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Who says that being on a picnic means you could do whatever you want? Well, if it were that way, then it will be too scary to go in a picnic simply because anything could happen since there are no rules to follow. People will just walk up to your picnic spot and hijack your basket which can be extremely dangerous, too. I shudder to think what could happen. So before anything terrible happens to your supposedly soothing and stress-free picnic, there happen to be a number of picnic etiquettes that you must stick to in order to coexist with other picnic goers and with your surroundings as well.

There are picnic groves that have several picnic tables that strangers can share. Please don’t come up to somebody else’s picnic and feel too comfortable. You never know what these people are there for and they might not like it if someone gatecrashes to their picnic.

Another well-known thing that happens in a really fun picnic with much food on the table is the Food fight. It is very common in college cafeterias however it may possibly happen in picnics too since they tend to be by themselves. Don’t start, encourage or get associated in a food fight. Aside from all the trash that you will be leaving behind, you will probably be attracting a lot of bugs such as ants and bees that can harm you after they smell food on you.

Another thing to watch is your music volume. Don’t play your stereo too loud. You will not only disturb other picnic goers, but you might irritate the animals around you. You don’t want a bear or other wild animals to come over to your picnic just because they heard your loud music.

Talking about bears, do not feed the creatures, specifically bears. They could be cute and cuddly, but then again you do not know whenever they might immediately turn wild. For persons who bring their dogs along on a picnic, don’t let your dogs out without a leash simply because they might harm or destroy other people’s picnic and you will probably be held accountable for it.

Also, help to make sure you clean up your dog’s droppings and make sure to dispose it correctly. That applies to all your trash at the same time. Keep all your trash in a bag that you could bring to avoid a pile up of trash in the picnic site.

And on your way home, don’t drink alcoholic beverages knowing that you will be driving everyone home. Accidents happen anytime and everywhere so refrain from drinking alcohol in a picnic. There are a lot of things that you need to avoid in order to make your picnic worry and hassle free. The list goes on and on. Different strokes for different folks. In the end, the success of your picnic will all depend on how well you behave as a responsible picnic-goer.

Finally, there are several things you can do without limiting yourself from doing. Have fun, fun and more fun! Do bring a good camera to capture your precious moments, bring lots of healthy and good food for everyone to enjoy and have some more fun under the sun.
