Convection Makes Baking Easier

Monday, April 19th, 2010

If I were to pick out the greatest way to bake my cookies and brownies, I would most likely select to have them baked using a convection oven as opposed to using the conventional type of gas oven. I’ve already been baking pastries for the past four years and all I could say is that I did pretty well having a gas oven, considering that it was just my first time to bake without virtually any formal classes or training on baking.

I learned everything from scratch over the internet and that’s something that I am extremely proud of. I have realized all the essential pointers in baking by simply experience and I must say that it absolutely was not an easy task to do. There happen to be no shortcuts with baking. You need to be patient with what you happen to be doing simply because a slight mistake will be able to obviously help to make an enormous change in the results that you are generally supposed to get.

It may be excellent but a large number of the time, the outcomes happen to be negative as you tend to overdo the elements or the operations when it comes to baking. It is no way close to cooking because you perfect the dish you are cooking by simply adding more materials to taste and it isn’t going to matter in case you add a tiny at least what is initially indicated in the recipe as long as it suits your taste.

According to my four years of baking experience, I must admit that there were loads of times that the whole batch on cookies I developed attended waste simply because I either melted the butter too much or I mixed the cookie batter a bunch of. There were also times when I assumed I’ve put enough materials in the batter but when I had finished baking them, I came to the realization that I had forgotten to add eggs or sugar in it and there’s practically nothing more I could do on the subject of it but to just throw the entire batch away.

Lately, I have not committed any mistakes in baking maybe because of my past experiences which I learned from. My friends are even asking me to bake cookies, brownies and cupcakes for our weekly picnic dates. The best part is that I wouldn’t have to worry about thinking of the place where to have our weekly picnics because I get to concentrate on baking the goods for the event and the rest of the gang gets to worry about that. A good convection oven will definitely save me more time and energy since I won’t have to flip the trays on both sides just to make sure that the pastries I am baking are equally cooked from both sides of the oven due to uneven heat distribution going on inside most gas ovens.

With an electric convection oven, I would just wait for the correct time to pursue my pastries out of the oven when my timer goes off and I probably would not have to worry of burning virtually any of it anymore. It is because of the supporters that are generally based in the oven to help to make sure which the heat is equally spread in the oven to cook your food perfectly.

The Mad Hatter’s Wedding Shower

Friday, April 9th, 2010

One of my closest friends just got married yesterday and if only you could see the way her eyes glitter out of excitement and happiness, you would want to get married soon, too. I played a part in her wedding’s preparation to make sure that the big day is a big success. I also organized her wedding shower a week before. I must admit that I had a hard time thinking of a totally whole new concept that would drop jaws, I also consulted the soon-to-be bride for any idea inputs to make sure that the wedding shower will be something she will personally love aside from the wedding ceremony and the wedding reception afterward.

She said she preferred something comical and something that is childish in a way that would certainly not look like children’s party. At first I thought to make it a princess-themed wedding shower but it is too predictable to have a princess-themed wedding shower and this type of party is normally for not so big girls. I don’t want to destroy her guests’ expectations and I want them to see the wedding shower the way they notice the bride-to-be like an individual in general.

What traits does my friend have in common? Well, according to my experience, she is really funny, crazy in numerous ways and she prefers tea parties. I couldn’t think of virtually any other personas that appear like those characteristics other than the Mad Hatter from Alice In Wonderland. Why not? I never have heard of somebody come up with a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party-themed wedding shower yet why then not start?

I promptly told informed the bride of the idea I created and she cherished the idea in an instant. She said she desired to take part in the preparation but I informed her to leave everything with me. I needed her to just take it quick also to just relax. I don’t want her to get stressed out a lot of on details even before her wedding day.

The first thing that I had to consult was the internet. I had to look for pictures of the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and that’s where I will be basing almost everything fro. Starting from the various types of cups, saucers, teapots, kettles, the interiors and all. I had to make sure that the details were as close to the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party as possible. The next thing I had to arrange was the menu. There probably won’t have too much fancy food in it since it’s supposed to be a tea party but I also had to make sure that the bride and her guests won’t pass out of hunger.

What goes well with tea or coffee? Pastries and sweets, obviously. With that, cupcakes most definitely designed it on very best of my list followed simply by the ever-longed for at any party dubbed as chocolate truffles. It could be quite high-priced to serve a number of dozens of chocolate truffles to all the guests so what I did was I had to put it in larges meals at the far end of the table. Every chocolate truffle has a tag that says “Eat me!” and partnered it off with the drinks in bottles with tags that says “Drink me!” like it is in the movie “Alice In Wonderland”.

Baking Is A Piece Of Cake

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

When I was a child, I’ve always watched my mother cook diverse dishes at home. I would certainly know that there will be an upcoming occasion because I could smell something excellent is cooking within our kitchen. She would certainly always cook pasta, meat stews along with other local delicacies that make us really excited of the flavorful aroma that the air inside our home brings when she cooks.

I have always already been curios how her dishes tend to be made and I prefer to be able to cook something like that when I grow up. My grandmother will also cook similar dishes to what my mother makes but I think my mother’s cooking tastes better. Maybe since we got used to it and my grandmother’s way of cooking is very traditional as in comparison with my mom’s modern approach with all the brand new different kinds of components. I assumed to myself that I would want to cook something better to impress my mother and my grandmother when I am old enough.

As I was growing up, I’ve managed to get some tips and tricks from my mother when she cooks something. There aren’t any secret recipes or any secret herbs and spices that she uses. It’s all in the method how you cook it. Patience really pays off when you’re cooking a good meal because you can’t hurry it up when you want it to come out almost perfectly. That also applies so much more on baking. You can’t just mix your cake batter as much as you want because you will be pushing too much air into your cake batter and it will come out too flat or too fluffy. You can’t force your cookies to come out in the oven at once because you’re too impatient to taste how they are. All you can do it wait and make sure that you time the baking process according to the instructions.

Baking is so much different from cooking a meal. When you cook your meals, you can add more spices to taste if it is a little bland or you could just add more ingredients or more water if it tastes too strong. In baking, everything needs to be calculated and all the ingredients should be measured exactly as it is indicated in the recipe. If you’re baking bread and you put in too much flour in it, it can either be too hard to eat or too crumby to slice. If you put a little too much water in the dough, it might turn out like a soggy and tasteless cake. It’s really hard to experiment on baking unlike cooking.

Given the fact that baking is too complicated for me, I’ve really found my niche in baking since it gives me a diverse feeling of accomplishment when the pastry you have baked turns out very well and anyone appreciates it so much more. I have managed to master the art of baking cookies and brownies and I can certainly say that baking is so much easier than you thought if only you have the drive to go for the outcome that you want to attain.

I know that the results of your first attempts may be disappointing but if at first you get a flat, tasteless piece of bread, do not be troubled because you are generally on the right track. Next thing you know, you are baking your way in the pastry industry and you certainly will say that it is only a piece of cake.
