What To Expect With Birthday Reminders

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Let’s face it, no one is perfect and we all forget important dates at one time or another. One of the best ways to avoid this embarrassing problem is to have a service that reminds you prior to any days that we wouldn’t want to miss. Since some of these dates, like birthdays and anniversaries, have a significant value in someone’s life, it would be best if we knew ahead of time and did not end up hurting anyone’s feelings by not remembering.

It is never really social acceptable to forget someone close to you’s birthday, especially a husband or wife or heaven forbid, your boss. Meetings and appointments could always be rescheduled but birth dates are birth dates, and you cannot postpone them, not for less than one year at least.

We sometimes send a late birthday greeting just to make up for the mishap. But this can never really erase the disappointment that the person felt when they were forgotten. Plus the guilt on our side weighs heavy on our chest. This is a tragedy in its own right.

However, there is a way for you not to go through this emotional agony. There is a very effective way to help yourself remember these very important dates. This service reminder can help remind you a day or week ahead of an occasion, whether it is a birthday or other important date. Wherever you are you will never miss greeting a family or friend on time for his/her birthday.

Birthday reminders are a service which can help you cover for your forgetfulness. Now you will never fail to congratulate them on important dates because you will be notified through an alert or email in time to get a card or present. That way you can be ready as if you knew the date was coming all on your own!

These services that provide the reminders also has other features. They do not just offer you a free birthday greeting card to send to people who are important to you, but this Birthday reminder service also has an advanced way of reminding you of an upcoming birthday which is very effective.

Another reason why the service works so well is that it has different notification options available to choose from. You can pick to get email alerts or texts messages in addition to the message you will get when you log into the website.

Now sending your birthday greetings have never been this easy and convenient. And the even better news is that you will never be able to send a late birthday greeting since you will always be reminded through birthday reminders.

You can be sure to never forget another friend’s birthday if you set up birthday reminders ahead of time. It’s also good to send a birthday greeting to friends and family on their birthday.

Don’t Be Late For Your Wedding

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I find it strange when the bride or the groom runs tardy for their wedding. Well, it happens each and every time in the movies so why not in reality, right? Running tardy just gives all the suspense to either the bride or even the groom, waiting for their lover to show up anytime soon for their wedding. Not to mention the thrill and excitement that the men and women attending happen to be deriving from this diva-like attitude. It would likely either help to make almost everyone relieved when the tardy one arrives, or everyone gets angry for keeping them so nervous that she or he isn’t really arriving. Runaway bride, anybody? Sorry but it is not going to work anymore. You have got to be there simply by hook or by simply crook.

Several men blame being late on being so drunk the night before because of stag parties and such. A number blame it on the truth that they weren’t capable of sleeping at all and just before the sun rises, they were able to get some sleep but then they fall a sleep longer longer than they really should. Several individuals blame it on defective bridal cars or the chauffer got sick and so a substitute had to be found first. Another normal reason for girls being tardy for the wedding is their cosmetics.

They just can’t decide on what make up to wear. That is what the make up artist is there for. It’s their problem and that is what they are getting paid a big amount for so trust them. Doing the hair is another. You need to get a hairstylist who knows how to set up hair promptly and when we say hair, we are not referring to ponytails and pullbacks. We are talking about huge, curly hair flowing out of the tiara and what have you. Better seek advice from websites for the hairdo you’d want for the wedding a minimum of months before so that you could still check out and search hairstylists who will do that for you.

For the males, get your ties, bows, suits, belts, cufflinks, shoes along with other paraphernalia ready for the special day. Lay them on the bed where you could see each item. Just similar to how the girls lay all their stuff on the bed to make it easier for them to find if everything’s they need is there (and for photo shoot reasons as well). Another thing to check is the bridal car. You do not want the car to break down just when you’re already halfway to the church, right? Unless you desire a dramatic entrance, running to the wedding ceremony by foot and looking like a sweat sock on your wedding day.

The cake should also be ordered beforehand as you would certainly still incorporate the design with the way you want it to appear and taste. If you’re having a reception, plan on the menu beforehand. Play risk-free. Don’t give in too much seafood and nuts as a number of people would be hypersensitive to them. Now any time you need to go exotic, you better plan for the menu and make sure they’re edible and safe and sound to eat. You do not want your wedding reception to be a mass grave.

Anyways, look out for gate crashers. You simply can’t miss them in the event you take care of almost everything ahead of time and if you’re not late on your wedding day to greet and thank the people come and witness your wedding day.

Mother’s Day: The Origins

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Have you ever wondered why we celebrate Mother’s Day? Well, save for the fact that we feel we must honor our mothers for their incomparable love. The Mother’s Day celebration in the United States was first observed thanks to Anna Jarvis. Although it doesn’t have a commercial impact then, the Mother’s day we observe today became one of the Hallmark Holiday. The giving of Mother’s Day gifts is a manifestation of it having a commercial purpose.

Historians though that the contemporary Mother’s Day celebration dawned from an old custom in ancient Greece from a festival in honor of Cybele, the great mother of Greek gods. Mother’s Day gifts were also offered to her honor. The said festival was originally held around the Vernal Equinox to Rome. This festival starts from March 15 to March 18, at least two months earlier than the present Mother’s Day.

The Romans also have a similar celebration in honor of Juno, a Roman goddess and the mother of Minerva, Mars, and Vulcan. She is the wife of Jupiter, a protector and special counselor of the state. This celebration is called the Matronalia. The giving of Mother’s Day gifts is also practiced during the celebration.

The Anglican and Catholic denomination of the Christian religion also hold records of Mother’s Day celebration. It is observed during the fourth Sunday of the Lent season to commemorate the immeasurable love of the Virgin Mary and in honor of the mother church. It is called the Mothering Sunday or Laetare Sunday in the liturgical calendar. Giving Mother’s Day gifts and ridding the mothers of their tasks like cleaning the house and cooking mark the observance of this celebration.

During the 1870, Howe’s Mother’s Day Proclamation was written by Julia Howe to call for the celebration of Mother’s Day in the United States. It is however has a political drive to react to the carnage of the American Civil War and the Franco-Russian War. In its first day of celebration, Mother’s Day gifts, usually roses are given to mothers all around the United States.

With or without Mother’s Day gifts, the most important thing to remember is why we celebrate this once in a year holiday – to honor our mothers. They don’t need extravagant gifts. A kiss, hug and a sincere “thank you” are all it needs to make them feel special and truly appreciated. No amount of flowers, sweets, and gifts could ever replace true sincerity and most especially a mother’s love.
