What’s not to love about New York City? My favorite borough is Manhattan, though each one certainly has its advantages. There are so many things to do in Manhattan, and I could spend a lifetime keeping myself busy.
Each neighborhood has its own special feel to it, making things really great for those who have a wide variety of interests.
Every neighborhood is truly unique, and the restaurants, stores, bars, and other things that come with a neighborhood really vary depending on where you are. It’s almost as if each one is its own city within a city.
Anyway, I’d like to briefly look at some of the best Manhattan neighborhoods, giving reasoning for my opinions behind each of these. If you plan on traveling to New York any time soon, I’d definitely suggest giving these a go.
The first neighborhood that I’d like to bring up is the East Village. This area is home to some of my favorite restaurants and bars in the city.
Catered to a younger crowd (think 20s and 30s), there are so many different styles of food, bars, lounges, and clothing shopping, all immersed in one area no bigger than a square mile at most. The East Village morphs into the Lower East Side as you go down, and the areas are very similar.
Its counterpart is the West Village, occupying the other side of the city when it comes to this portion of downtown Manhattan. There are things that they have in common, as they both appeal to youth, but they’re very different nonetheless. The West Village has more of a European feel.
If you prefer something a bit less Bohemian and more scenic, have a look at the Upper West Side. With Central Park in the backdrop, this is an excellent blend of nature, combined with the rest of what you’d come to expect in traditional Manhattan.
The East Village, Upper West side, and West Village are just two of the dozens of exciting areas in Manhattan. If you haven’t been to these, I know you’ll enjoy them when you see them.
